Youth Engagement Workshop
HCD is hosting a Youth Engagement Workshop on April 8th at Gwen Cherry Park. This interactive session is designed to give 20–30 youth within the boundary area the opportunity to share their voices, ideas, and vision for the future of their community. Through guided activities and open discussion, participants will help shape the neighborhood transformation plan while completing needs assessment surveys.
We hope this workshop serves as a starting point for ongoing involvement, inspiring youth to stay engaged beyond the event and play an active, long-term role in shaping their community.
Steering Committee and CN Site Visit
The second Steering Committee Meeting will bring partners together to reconnect, share progress, and continue advancing the planning effort. The meeting will include a guided tour of Culmer Place, part of a previously awarded CNI Implementation Grant Followed by a tour of the MLK Station boundary area and a discussion on the planning process, upcoming engagement activities, and next steps for the Transformation Plan.
Annie Coleman Reunion
HCD is hosting an Annie Coleman “Reunion” on April 25th for residents who were relocated off-site. This special event will bring the community back together to reflect on shared history while envisioning a brighter future. Attendees will enjoy food, games, music from a live DJ, and have access to information about the CNI Planning Grant. The reunion will also serve as an opportunity to complete needs assessment surveys, with a goal of collecting 40-50 responses to help guide community-driven planning efforts.
